Midlife Myth-Busting

Midlife Myth-Busting

If I’m a cougar at 45, I’ll be a sabertooth sex goddess by 65.

Let’s get one thing straight:

This whole “midlife libido crash” narrative?
It’s not biology.
It’s branding.

The myth that women dry up and die inside the second we blow out 40 candles was never truth—it was just patriarchy dressed in a lab coat, selling shame and hormone cream.

And we bought it.
Quietly.
Until now.

Because the truth?

Desire doesn’t die in midlife. It mutates. It matures. It fucking expands.

And when it’s finally unleashed—after decades of suppression, performance, people-pleasing, and vaginal tightrope acts—it is holy and it is wild and it is not asking permission.

Myth: Women lose interest in sex after 40.

Reality: Some of us are just getting started.

I’ll tell you when I knew it was a lie.

One night in Austin, a man worshiped me for five hours.
(Yes, with a 30-minute break for burgers and hydration, because I’m not 22 and this is professional-grade sensuality.)

He didn’t treat it like a race.
He treated me like a temple.

There was curiosity. Discovery. Sacred mischief.
He wasn’t trying to “get off.”
He was trying to meet God through me.

And in that moment—somewhere between the first kiss and the sixth orgasm—I realized:

The sex I like, the way I like it… Isn’t weird.
Isn’t shameful. Isn’t niche.
It’s very fucking wanted.

I just hadn’t met the people who wanted it yet.
And honestly? I hadn’t known I could be one of them.

Because when you’ve been raised in a culture that treats a woman’s pleasure like a glitch in the matrix…
You start to think your craving is the problem, not the script.

The Cultural Con

We’ve been sold “cougar” as a punchline.
A caricature of desperate single moms pawing at bartenders named Kyle.

But if I’m a cougar at 45, I’ll be a lioness at 55, and at 65?

They don’t even have animals that big, wise, and wet in nature.
Someone call David Attenborough—we need a new category.

Because midlife isn’t decay.
It’s decoding.
It’s when the noise fades and the signal finally gets through.
Your body starts whispering what it really wants.

And for the first time in your life—you might actually be ready to listen.

Let’s be clear

If you’ve noticed your desire growing, changing, or waking up in wild new ways—
You are not broken.
You’re just early to the new narrative.

And if you’re feeling ashamed for wanting more while your friends placate with “that’s just how it is after 35”…
You’re not the odd one out.
You’re the one finally plugged in.

This is the era of women who don’t retire from their bodies.
We graduate into them.

What the Research Actually Says

Translation?
You’re not a freak.
You’re the trendsetter.

We’ve just never had a name for this part of the story.
Until now.

Essential Reading for Midlife Sexual Reclamation

"The Vagina Bible" by Dr. Jen Gunter: Medical truth about perimenopause, hormones, and sexual health. Debunks the "drying up" myths with actual science.

Older, Wiser, Fiercer” by Virginia Wilde: A humorous and empowering collection of affirmations, mantras, and quotes from brilliant women worldwide that celebrates the glorious freedom, wisdom, and fierce authenticity that comes with aging—proving that being older is where the real fun begins.

Tell me everything.

I’m collecting stories from the frontlines of midlife desire. I want the raw, real and often only whispered if spoken at all.

If you’ve…

  • Felt your libido rise like a phoenix after 40

  • Noticed your desires change—toward more, less, kinkier, slower

  • Realized you’ve been living someone else’s sexual script

  • Or finally felt like your turn-on wasn’t weird, it was welcome

Tell me. Tell us.
This is your moment to whisper it across the sleepover circle—while a young writer from Rolling Stone eavesdrops and realizes you belong on the cover.

Your words might appear (anonymously) in future letters, courses, or the book that’s rewriting everything.

Because the more we say it out loud, the more permission we create.
And permission is power.

Thank you for building the new narrative

Every time you forward this, comment on it, share it, or scream “YESSSSSS” in your car alone—you’re not just resonating. You’re rebuilding culture.

We don’t go quiet in midlife.
We go sovereign.

We don’t crash.
We ignite.

This isn’t a second act.
It’s the reclamation tour.

And I’m so grateful to be walking it with you.

In hunger, heat, and holy rebellion,
